Swedish massage
The main objective of this massage is to promote relaxation by releasing the tension in your muscles. It involves using long strokes that are performed at a light-to-firm pressure and it typically involves the use of hands, forearms and elbows. Another goal of this massage is to improve circulation to your muscles through soothing them as well. In addition to increased blood circulation, some of the benefits of a Swedish massage include an improved range of motion and a reduction of stress. It’s also a great technique for relieving cramps and muscle spasms.
Sports and remedial therapy
Remedial massage is one of the most popular therapies that I offer at Head2Heal. Remedial massage therapies are commonly performed on injured areas to create optimal conditions for the body to return to normal health. If a client has suffered an injury which has resulted in soft tissue pain or the loss of function, then remediation is a means by which pain can be eliminated and function restored. The massage aims to speed up recovery by specifically targeting the soft tissues of the body, such as muscles and fascia. Sports and remedial therapy has a number of benefits for those who are involved in sport at a given level. Some of these benefits include relaxation, an increase in tissue elasticity, and a reduction in swelling, creating a more balanced form and helping prevent further injury.
Hot stones massage
This is a massage which involves the use of heated basalt stones on various areas of the body including the back, neck and shoulders, arms and legs. Basalt stones are particularly used because they contain high levels of iron which retain the heat. Additionally, the stones are used to warm and relax your muscles to allow a deeper pressure to be applied. The stones are used along with aromatic massage oil and various massage techniques to sooth and relax the body. The benefits of these techniques including the promotion of blood circulation and the relaxation of tense muscles. Hot stones are particularly beneficial for those that suffer from back or muscular pain.
